Tips for taking measurements:

  • We strive to make sure our patterns are up to date with the most relevant UK specification sizes. However, every child is different so it’s important to check your child’s measurements before you start.

  • Please make sure you measure your child at the key areas and check your measurements against the size charts. These are included in your PDF or Packaging. There is also a link above should you need it.

  • Key measurements to consider are height, chest, waist and hip.

  • Always double check your measurements. Once you are confident you have these correct use the size chart.

  • Select the pattern that is a combined best fit across all the measurements. (If in doubt go up a size.)

  • In between sizes? Kids are all shapes and sizes, so you may find you have different sizes for your measurements. For example, your child may be age 5 in waist, but age 6 in height. If this is the case, we recommend that going for the bigger size would be best.

  • If you have concerns over sizing we recommend making a toile in a substitute fabric first to the fit of the larger size. When fitting you can reduce the parts that are too big by pinning and then measuring the changes is size. You can then adapt your pattern accordingly. (Recommended for experienced sewers only.)
